Weekly Golf Results – May 11, 2026

Saturday was the MCA Engineering sponsored 18 Hole Stableford event. Big thanks to Scott and the team from MCA for sponsoring their annual event which doubled as the 1st round of the 2026 Handiskins. There were 62 players on a course rebounding from the 25mls of rain we had plus bright sunshine for growing conditions.

Best score on the day was Jacob Chambers who hit a great 42 points. Jacob has recently put in his 3 handicap rounds and is now a bona fide competition member and came out all gun’s blazing. Jacob had identical sides with 43s made up of a birdie, a couple of pars, 4 bogeys and 2 double bogeys. So, his maiden win was typical of the life of a golfer – a mixed bag but the hint of things to come. Tim Cowling was next in with 39’s on each side, with the exact sides as well but he had 4 birdies and only some lapses in concentration stopped a really professional round. Ben Thompson and Gordon Pritchard, both off 22 handicaps, had positive rounds of 39.

In the beginning of the Handiskins season, Tim has jumped to the top of the leaderboard in his first outing in the event. Tim also picked up the Handiskins nearest the pin to give him the sense that this competition may be an easy run in, but with 4 rounds remaining there will be a lot of twists and turns to play out. Players keep their best 3 rounds of the 5 for the chance to play off in a 4 person skins style final, which offers the opportunity compete in a national final in Queensland.

Other good scores for Handiskins entrants were Peter Bristol with a 37 – best score for some time – including 3 birdies but too many doubles to challenge the winners on the day. Brian Hogan Snr, also with a 37 getting his name in the press after a lengthy break from the game, and Barry Whitaker also getting in on the act with his 37 points. Interesting to note one of the regular Handiskins stars in Chris Goodie was hovering a point further back and will time his run to perfection as usual.

The Nearest The Pins on Saturday were – the Idlerite Tyrepower 1st Brendan Bennett at 783cm, the Griffins Leading Edge 4th by Phil Bishop at 218cm, the Parkes Ready Mixed Concrete 9th by Rob Rea at 159cm, the Harvey Norman 11th by Tim Cowling at 319cm and the Parkes Security Storage 17th by Warwick Wright at 210cm.

The Money Hole was won by Warwick Wright at 210cm.

The Handiskins hole was won by Tim Cowling at 319.

Ball winners were Ben Thomson, Gordon Pritchard 39, Peter Bristol, Brian Hogan Snr, Barry Whitaker 37 and Chris Goodie 36.

The Next Handiskins round is on Saturday 13 th June. Next Saturday is Prostate Cancer Awareness Day in a 4 person Ambrose format with lots of prizes – come and support a good cause.
