Weekly Golf Results – November 24, 2025
Saturday was an 18 Stableford event sponsored by well known Parkes solicitor and golfing and bridge tragic Bill Burke. Bill has been forever a supporter, player and sponsor of golf in Parkes and Trundle and we appreciate his continued support even though he’s moving more to the game of bridge these days. Conditions were passable for this time of year and there were 53 starters.
The best score of the day was reached by the last few groups out as it had obviously just hit the sweet spot of wind support and speedier greens for them. Brendon Simpson, taking time away from the header and counting grains of wheat, was the winner on the day with a very nice 40 point haul off his 18 handicap. Brendon had an 87 off the stick with a 43/44 split and back to back birdies on the 5th and 6th holes. There was the issue of the quadruple bogey on the 7th so his score could have been so much better. But he was happy with his 21 points on the front and 19 on the back. Scott Mackenzie was again the unlucky the golfer, going down on a countback, having scored 22 points on the front Scott could only come home with 18 points. But he was happy to be out there getting a game in after a long break.
Others fairing well on the day were Rob Lea with 39 points and Phil Bishop on the same score. Rob had the same score off the stick as Brendon also off an 18 handicap but didn’t manage to get that extra point on the correct hole. Phil had a solid 79 off the stick and those extra practice rounds with the international tourist Nym Dziuba, are obviously sharpening his game. Visitor from Dubbo Jill Apolony scored a solid 38 points on her first outing on our course and was matched by the Tigers supporter in Ken Keith.
The Nearest The Pins on Saturday were – the Idlerite 1st by Peter Magill at 397cm, the Griffins Leading Edge by Mick Smith at 76cm, the Parkes Ready Mixed Concrete 9th by Dave Chambers at 96cm, the Max Keith Carpentary 11th by Tony Hendry at 298cm and the Parkes Security Storage 17th by Peter Magill at 124cm. The Money Hole was won by Tony Hendry at 298cm.
Ball winners were Rob Lea, Phil Bishop 39, Jill Apolony, Ken Keith 38.
Next Saturday’s event is an 18 hole Ambrose sponsored by Zac Kelly Golf. This can be played in teams of 2,3 or 4.
